Adkins Speed Center may not have had their Triple Crown winning driver, Brandon Adkins, with them this past weekend at the opening round of the Manufacturer’s Cup championship, but there was no shortage of green fin engines at the front of the pack. Owner Kyle Adkins also received the award for Mechanic of the Year and was inducted into the WKA Hall of Fame.
Adkins Speed Center once again showed their dominance in the TAG category with Kyle Wiegand of Team Top-Kart USA taking the win with his Adkins Leopard. Cale Wyse was the big winner in HPV with wins in both HPV Lite and Heavy. Ryan Stewart found the set-up for Sunday’s events taking pole position in Yamaha Lite and Sr. Sportsman Heavy. Stewart would go on to finish fifth in Yamaha Lite and third in Sr. Sportsman Heavy followed by Scott Ferris and Zach Beard all on green fin engines.
Colton Ramsey of Mark Coats Racing made his Junior debut by winning HPV Jr. Lite. Colton followed this performance up with a fifth in Jr. Supercan Lite. Watch for this young driver to challenge for race wins all year long. In his first ever National event, Jeremy Remick had a great showing with a third place finish in Yamaha Jr. Sportsman after leading a majority of the race and followed that up with a fifth in HPV Jr. Sportsman.
